Ahead of his highly anticipated Super Bowl performance in San Francisco this weekend, Charlie Puth is setting the tone with new music. The multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and producer has released “Cry,” a new single featuring a smooth, scene-stealing saxophone turn from the legendary Kenny G.

Written as a reflection on family, growth, and the pressures that come with life in the spotlight, “Cry” leans into emotional honesty. Anchored by the refrain, “It’s not for nothing, feeling something — you know everybody cries,” the track pushes back against the idea that vulnerability is a flaw, instead framing it as a quiet source of strength.

“‘Cry’ is about allowing yourself to feel things fully,” Puth said in a statement. “I grew up watching people I admire carry emotional weight quietly. This song is a reminder that expressing emotion is not weakness — it’s human, and sometimes it’s exactly what helps you grow.”

“Cry” marks the third preview of Puth’s forthcoming studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, due out March 27. You can pre order the album here.
