The North Carolina Folk Festival, which will take place in-person in Greensboro from September 10 to 12 announced an opportunity for North Carolina musicians to compete for a chance to perform at this year's festival.
“Through the Not Your Average Folk Contest we endeavor to amplify talent from our home state by creating this fun opportunity for emerging or community-based musicians to share their musical traditions with our festival community,” said Amy Grossmann, president & CEO of the North Carolina Folk Festival.
Applications opened on Wednesday, May 12 at ncfolkfestival.com/nyaf-contest/ and will close on Sunday, June 12. There will then be a round of online voting by the public and the winner will be selected to perform at the festival. The winner will also be rewarded an 8-hour studio recording session from Black Rabbit Audio.
