Writer-director Josh Safdie’s highly anticipated new film, Marty Supreme, hits theaters December 25 via A24. Set in the 1950s, the film stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a young man whose dream is dismissed by everyone around him, forcing him to go to hell and back in pursuit of greatness. His goal—to become a table tennis champion—is loosely inspired by real-life ping pong legend Marty Reisman.
Marty Supreme marks Josh Safdie’s first solo feature without his brother Benny since his 2008 debut, The Pleasure of Being Robbed. He reunites with frequent collaborator Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never to compose the film’s score.
