Arlo Parks sings of gentle endings on new single ‘Softly’

Arlo Parks is back with her first single of 2022, “Softly.”

Today’s release marks Arlo Parks’ first new music since 2021’s Collapsed In Sunbeams. “Softly” comes accompanied by a video directed by Zhang and Knight. The warm, sun-drenched video has a nostalgic tinge that fits the track perfectly.

“‘Softly’ is a song about yearning, about how fragile you feel in the dying days of a relationship when you’re still desperately in love,” Arlo Parks explains. “The song is about how it feels to brace yourself before the blow of a break up and reminisce about the days where it all felt luminous.”
