Bonnaroo announces 2027 cancellation

Bonnaroo is taking a year off. The Tennessee festival has announced that it will not return in 2027, giving The Farm a rare fallow year after several editions have been battered by extreme weather.

In a statement shared on its website and social media, organizers said the decision will give the Manchester, Tennessee grounds time to "recuperate from back to back year of storms," including the heavy rain that hit the festival on its final day this year. Read the full statement below.

The decision follows several difficult years for Bonnaroo, which is produced by Live Nation's C3 Presents. Ahead of the 2026 festival, organizers poured significant resources into improving The Farm's ability to withstand severe weather. Those efforts came after the 2025 festival was forced to shut down after just one day because of flooding, while the 2021 edition was ultimately canceled after first being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then hit by the arrival of Hurricane Ida.

Even with those preparations, weather remained a factor in 2026. Bonnaroo went ahead as planned, but the festival was forced to evacuate attendees and cancel performances on its final day following another round of severe storms.

The 2027 cancellation marks the first time Bonnaroo has voluntarily taken a year off since its launch in 2002. Before the recent weather-related disruptions, the festival's only other missed edition came in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the live music industry to a standstill.

For Bonnaroo, the year away represents an unusual reset for a festival that has built its identity around the communal mythology of The Farm. Whether the break is enough to finally put the weather behind it remains to be seen.
