Gorillaz closed out their London “House of Kong” residency in September with an unannounced front-to-back preview of their upcoming album The Mountain. Now they’re bringing the full-album experience to the U.S. with two newly announced performances at the Hollywood Palladium on February 22 and 23. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, December 10 at 9 AM PT.
Those shows arrive just before the launch of a new “House of Kong” installation at Rolling Greens DTLA, which will run for four weeks from February 26 through March 19. Tickets for the exhibition go live on Wednesday, December 3 at 9 AM PT, and a trailer for the project is available to watch below.
Stephen Gallagher — the artist and creative director who developed “House of Kong” alongside Jamie Hewlett, Damon Albarn, and Eleven Management — describes the exhibition as an evolving piece of art rather than a look back. “‘House of Kong’ isn’t a retrospective; it’s an audio-visual work that glances at the past to map out what comes next,” he says. “Being part of the Gorillaz world for the last eight years has been life-changing, and I hope some of that energy comes through in this experience. Nothing in the Gorillaz universe is ever straightforward, and this show is no exception.”
The Mountain arrives March 20.
