Widely regarded as one of the greatest concert films of the 1980s, Prince – Sign ‘O’ the Times has been out of print on U.S. home video since 1991 and absent from streaming platforms for years. Now, a newly restored version—featuring remixed and remastered spatial audio—will return to the big screen with an IMAX theatrical run beginning August 29. Presale tickets are available now.
Directed by Prince himself, the film captures performances from his 1987 European tour, specifically in Rotterdam and Antwerp, in support of his double album Sign ‘O’ the Times. Having recently disbanded The Revolution, Prince was joined on this tour by drummer Sheila E., Revolution keyboardist Doctor Fink, keyboardist Boni Boyer, bassist Levi Seacer Jr., guitarist Miko Weaver, horn players Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, and dancer Cat Glover. Notably, the film’s performance of “U Got the Look,” his hit duet with Sheena Easton, doubled as the track’s official music video.
