WATCH: Chappell Roan releases "The Subway"

Over a year has passed since Chappell Roan first performed “The Subway” live at New York City's Governors Ball, where she took the stage dressed as the Statue of Liberty. After sharing a few teasers recently, she’s now officially released the studio version of the track. “This song captures everything I adore about New York City,” Chappell wrote, “from the hope and heartbreak to the healing it offers us all.”

Fans familiar with the live renditions—collectively racking up over a million views on YouTube—will recognize it as a powerful, ballad-style anthem, and the studio version delivers just as strongly. You can listen to it now, and the official video premiered at 10 AM ET on Friday (8/1).

Since debuting “The Subway” at GovBall, Chappell has also introduced her country-inspired track “The Giver” on Saturday Night Live, which was officially released earlier this year. She also has a few upcoming tour dates, listed below.
