With FENIAN set to arrive this week, Kneecap have offered one final preview—and it’s a left turn. “Irish Goodbye,” a collaboration with Kae Tempest, trades the group’s usual bite for something more intimate, unfolding as a stark tribute from Móglaí Bap to his late mother. Written alongside producer Dan Carey, the track leans into vulnerability without losing the group’s sense of purpose, revealing a different register entirely.
The release is paired with a short film directed by Thomas James, expanding the song’s emotional weight into something more cinematic. Featuring a cast that includes Colm O’Brien, Barry Dobson, Deirdre O’Kane, Liam Cunningham, and others, the film moves with the same quiet intensity as the track itself—less a visual companion than an extension of its grief and reflection.
Kneecap will take FENIAN on the road this spring and summer, with a run of dates across the UK and Europe. If “Irish Goodbye” is any indication, this next chapter may be their most revealing yet.
