Olivia Rodrigo's streak of surprise appearances alongside rock heavyweights continued Friday night at Lollapalooza. During The Smashing Pumpkins' rain-soaked headlining set, Rodrigo emerged to perform "Thirty-Three," the beloved Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness deep cut that the band had dusted off for just the second time since 2018.
The performance came one night after The Smashing Pumpkins revived the song during their intimate Riviera Theatre show, making its Lollapalooza outing an equally rare moment. Despite the weather, Rodrigo and Billy Corgan delivered the reflective track to a packed Grant Park crowd. Fan-shot footage of the collaboration is available below.
Rodrigo wasn't the night's only surprise guest. Yungblud joined the band for a performance of "Luna," while former Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf der Maur once again reunited with the group for the closing song, "The Everlasting Gaze," after making a guest appearance at the Riviera show the previous evening.
