Pixies are digging back into their archive with a new edition of Complete B-Sides 1988–97, a compilation that has long lived in the margins of their catalog but tells a fuller story of the band at their most restless. The reissue arrives June 26 via 4AD and, for the first time, will be pressed on vinyl, expanded with six live bonus tracks.

The collection pulls together material that has always sat just outside the spotlight but remains essential to understanding the band’s shape and reach. Tracks like “Manta Ray,” “Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf),” “Bailey’s Walk,” and their take on “In Heaven,” better known as the “Lady in the Radiator Song” from Eraserhead, underline how much of Pixies’ identity was built in the spaces between official releases.

For this edition, the recordings have been remastered from the original analogue tapes, restoring some of the grit and depth that defined their early work. The visual side has been revisited too, with designer Chris Bigg drawing from Simon Larbalestier’s archive to assemble artwork built around images originally intended for the band but left unused at the time.

The reissue lands as Pixies continue to maintain a steady presence on the road. A run of North American dates is scheduled for September, including a stop at Sea.Hear.Now Festival on September 20.
