Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine share delicate new track ‘Back To Oz’

Sufjan Stevens and Angelo De Augustine have shared another new collaborative track, “Back To Oz.”

The new single follows the previously released “Reach Out” and “Olympus,” all of which appear on their forthcoming album, A Beginner’s Mind. The forthcoming album began when the musicians and Asthmatic Kitty labelmates headed to a friend’s cabin for a monthlong songwriting session. At the end of each day, they would watch a movie to unwind, and their songs quickly began to reflect the films. They then decided to explore their songwriting connection on a 14-track album.

This new song is inspired by the 1985 film Return To Oz. It’s a delicate, gorgeous new indie-folk sound that calls upon the beginnings of Stevens’ career. The new tune comes accompanied by a video directed by Straight To Tell’s Alex Horan and animated by Clara Murray. Alongside “Back TO Oz,” Sufjan Stevens and Angelo De Augustine released Fictional California.
